Meet your neighbor Series
The Meet Your Neighbor series was created to highlight the people who make Winona Lake feel like home. What began as a monthly newsletter feature has grown into an opportunity to sit down with community members, hear their stories, and capture their portraits in meaningful, familiar spaces. Each month, I have the privilege of interviewing and photographing a neighbor whose life and work have left a lasting impact on the Winona Lake community.
The Gagnons

Co-founders of The Lost Sparrows, the Gagnons are known for their deep heart for the vulnerable. Their work and presence have made a meaningful impact on the Winona Lake community.
Martha Beeson

Martha was the first neighbor featured in this series and has called Winona Lake home for decades. She and her husband, Steve, have lived in their cottage since 1981, and her long-standing connection to the community reflects the quiet faithfulness that makes Winona Lake special.
The Swaims

The Swaims moved to the Winona Lake area in 1978 and have been deeply involved in the community ever since. Rick enjoys time on the trails and mountain biking, while Ellen served as the town’s deputy clerk-treasurer for 23 years, faithfully contributing to the town’s growth and operations.
Pam Howard

Pam Howard is the Town Manager of Winona Lake and was introduced to the area by former Town Manager Craig Allebaugh. She enjoys boating, spending time outdoors, and supporting the Winona Lake Farmers Market, while continuing to invest in the community she now helps lead.

Josh Grill

Josh comes from a family with deep roots in Winona Lake. His parents moved to the community in the 1960s while attending Grace College and later built their family home along the canal. Josh continues that legacy today as a lifelong resident and father of two.
Clint Johnson
Clint Johnson, also known as “Clint Dawg,” has been a Winona Lake resident since 1981. A Grace College graduate, Clint has spent the past 20 years working at Grace, continuing to serve the community that has shaped much of his life.
Business Spotlights
The Business Spotlight series highlights locally owned businesses based in the Town of Winona Lake. Each feature begins with an interview to learn the story behind the brand, followed by a photography session focused on capturing their products, spaces, and the people behind them. This series celebrates the creativity, passion, and small-business spirit that helps shape the local community.
